Schneider and Whalen grew up outside Washington, DC when the 80s/90s music scene was exploding. They developed a voracious appetite for the alternative music scene happening at the time (in both local, and moody, British bands). This inevitably led to musical collaboration in high school, and in their band, Damn Near Red later at art school in Richmond, Virginia.

Recently the two have reunited in Richmond and formed a band under the moniker Supercivil. Together they are also pursuing opportunities to score for film and media as Two Left Ears.

Their composing palette often features live recorded guitars, drums, bass, as well as processed samples, blended with synth to produce a range of sound that creates indie-rock-like moments, to minimal, textured atmospheres and experimental soundscapes.
